Meet the SOC Staff

Xuan Tran, SOC Supervisor

Xuan is a senior Communications major who was previously an SOC staff member and Minute Taker and now currently holds a position as the SOC supervisor.

Her work in USG is motivated by her goal to reach as many students as possible and provide services to them as individuals or organizations that help them progress. Outside of USG, Xuan is the Vice Chair of Member Relations of SUBOG's Special Events Committee.

Xuan's hobbies include swimming, hanging out with friends, with a slight obsession to Boba.



McKenna Oberheim

McKenna is a senior Allied Health Sciences major and Spanish minor. She works in the Nyholm Lab as well as an animal care specialist. Her work in USG is motivated by her love of working with the SOC staff and making amazing connections between the SOC and USG staff. She loves her position and feels supported by her peers.

Outside of USG, she is a Pre-Dental Society member and HuskyThon dance representative, as well as a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and the National Society of Leadership and success Honor Society Member. She is also a member of the Clinical Minds and She's the First clubs. Upon graduation, McKenna plans on attending dental school.

Her hobbies include music, concerts, reading and dancing!


Harshita Akella

Harshita is a Junior MCB major and Math minor. Her work in USG is motivated by her love for the people she works with and the nature of the work they do! Her hobbies include reading.



Chloe Beard

Chloe is a Junior Psychological Sciences BS major and Neuroscience minor. Her work in USG is motivated by her interest in always looking for new opportunities to get involved on campus and be an active member when it comes to committees within USG. Outside of USG, Chloe is a member of the Psychology club.

Her hobbies include music, running and cooking.


Lana Marie David

Lana is a Sophomore Pharmacy major and Biology minor. She is a Floor Mentor for Pharmacy House and an active member of the Filipino-American Student Association. Her work in USG is motivated by her desire to be more involved with the student organizations at UConn. Since many student organizations were negatively impacted in terms of resources due to Covid-19, she wants to be able to help the community.

Her hobbies include traveling a lot with her family and playing volleyball. She is also incredibly passionate about anything related to music whether it's arranging music, performing, or even just listening to music. She enjoys watching childhood shows such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Victorious, and Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated.


Kelly Brogan

Kelly is a Senior Business Management major and Digital Marketing and Analytics minor. She is the Social Chair and Standards Board for the Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority, member of the Habitat for Humanity and is a tutor for her local elementary school when needed. Her work in USG is motivated by her desire to get more involved within her school community and be included in a positive/encouraging environment. She also wants to have the opportunity to advocate for students on issues that concern them and participate in funding tier organizations that will further develop our schools purpose and values

Kelly's plans upon graduation include securing a job within the business marketing/management field in NYC or Boston, and further develop her career from there.

Her hobbies include working out, playing with her 3 dogs, going to the beach and going on sunset drives listening to music.


Giovanni Sinta 

Giovanni is a Junior Finance major and Management minor. Outside of USG, Giovanni is the President of Cannabis Club and a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. His work in USG is motivated by the desire to represent fellow undergraduates and clubs. He He is also inspired by his fellow USG members, as they work diligently while also having fun.

Giovanni enjoys staying active with volleyball, playing basketball, lifting weights, hiking and kayaking.


Erica Croxford 

Erica is Junior Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences major and is a member of the Painting Club. Her work in USG is motivated by learning more about the student government along with the various clubs on campus. Her hobbies include painting, reading and music.



Madeline Peling

Madeline is pursuing a double major in Junior Political Science and History. She is also a member of the Honors Program. Outside of USG she is the Secretary and Choreographer on the UConn Dance Company.

Her work in USG is motivated by her appreciation for the impact being involved in a student organization can have on students' lives and success at UConn. She is grateful to be working in a position where she can help facilitate the smooth running of student organizations and their access to USG resources.

Madeline has a passion for dancing, her cats and Model UN.
