Tae’Niajha Pullen is a senior studying Africana studies with a minor in Anthropology. She previously served as the African American Cultural Centers ex-officio senator and now serves as the Chief Diversity Officer. With a strong passion for equity and civil rights, she has actively been involved in various capacities to create a safe and inclusive community through her efforts to reach, support, and engage with underrepresented students and organizations. Through serving as the Chief Diversity Officer for the Undergraduate Student Government she has been able to collaborate with the greater UConn Community to ensure equity for students on our campus. Outside of USG she is involved in UConn’s newest living and learning community, BSOUL. She is president of the Black UConn Collective, Director of Black Female Development Circle and in these roles she has strived to create spaces on campus where students are empowered to challenge the status quo and demand a more diverse, equitable, just, and inclusive environment. In my free time she enjoys traveling, reading a good book or binge watching documentaries.

Isabel Ayala Rodriguez

Minor: Digital Marketing and Analytics

Isabel Ayala Rodriguez is a senior majoring in Allied Health Science with a minor in Digital Marketing & Analytics. She serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager in USG, where she focuses on addressing food insecurity on campus and providing essential resources to those in need. Isabel is also the Vice President for UConn Creating Caring Communities (CCC), an organization dedicated to advocating for students experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Additionally, she is the LSAMP Mentorship Coordinator, where she helps support underrepresented students in STEM through mentorship and academic resources. Isabel is also a Senior Resident Assistant at Hilltop Apartments. In her free time, Isabel enjoys weightlifting, golfing and playing pickleball.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advocacy Coordinator

Phoenix Harper

Year: Junior

Major: Political Science & Business Management

Phoenix is a Junior majoring in Political Science and Business Management with a very strong passion for social justice advocacy and community development. Phoenix has been an active member of NAACP for over 6 years and worked with Human Rights Commissions throughout the region to help create more equitable environments and combat injustices. As DEI advocacy coordinator, Phoenix hopes to foster an environment where all students feel comfortable, valued, and empowered to engage in important conversations about social justice and equity. By organizing educational events, facilitating open conversations, and establishing support systems, Phoenix aims to increase awareness and understanding of social issues amongst the student body. Outside of NAACP and USG, Phoenix enjoys traveling, reading, and playing volleyball!
