Olivia Viel
Year: Senior
Major: English
Minors: Interpreting Between ASL and English
Email: academicaffairs@usg.uconn.edu
Olivia is a senior English major with a minor in Interpreting Between American Sign Language and English. Olivia’s passion lies in advocacy for neurodiverse students and students with disabilities. Through her work in USG, she has launched the installation of 12 additional automatic doors on campus and legislated USG’s accessibility bylaw, making all of USG’s public facing content accessible. In her role as Director, Olivia leads USG’s WEPA subsidized printing initiative and grants all undergraduates a free New York Times Subscription. In the 24-25 academic year, Olivia hopes to continue her advocacy for students on academic probation/warning and lobby for cultural support for students with disabilities. Outside of USG, Olivia is a member of the Diversability club and an Instructional Assistant for ASL 1. Her hobbies include reading, writing, taking care of her houseplants, and spending time with her dog, Token.
Olivia wants UConn undergrads to know that she is a resource for students who need academic advocacy support in any area, so please reach out!
Deputy Director of Academic Affairs
Ella Egan
Year: Sophmore
Major: Business Management
Email: academicdeputy@usg.uconn.edu
Ella is a sophomore studying Business Management! She has a passion for social justice, leadership, and engagement around campus. On campus I am involved in the sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi, SUBOG, and multiple intramural sports. This past year I was a member of the BCLC which truly prepped me with a foundation of business. Within the position I hope to expand student knowledge of what the Academic Affairs office does, and help my peers. Outside of academic life, I like to spend time with my friends, go to the beach, and try new foods.
