MESSAGE FROM THE CANDIDATE

Sydney Whittaker is a junior Molecular & Cell Biology major with a minor in business fundamentals, planning to pursue a medical doctorate and a master’s in business administration. Sydney is well-versed in overseeing a $48,000 food insecurity budget to advocacy-based projects in her role as Food Insecurity Advocacy Coordinator for USG. She advocates for equitable access to a consistent food supply for all students through nutrition education and awareness. She has formally established partnership with SHaW nutrition services, providing nutrition education to students through events such as “Fueling For Finals” and cooking classes. Outside of USG, she is a summer blood program leader and a nationally-recognized “Leaders Save Lives” winner for the Red Cross, organizing blood drives and advocating for blood donations during a national shortage. Advocacy work and student engagement are central in her goals to suitably serve the student body and discuss fiscal empowerment. She will be transparent and flexible regarding the direction of funds, listening to student concerns to address the pressing needs of the student body.
