MESSAGE FROM THE CANDIDATE
Hi! My name is Angelo Montes-Diaz, a third year, First Gen, Latino, studying Political Science!
I began my USG journey as a Senator, and last year I was a J.E.D.I. Committee member where I reviewed university policies, programs, and conditions to promote justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. J.E.D.I. helped me currently build connections to create an initiative called Huskies Helping Huskies to support students on academic notice, I was asked to join a H.E.S.A. assessment team to help uncover whether students, especially BIPOC students, were engaging with campus academic recourses to improve student's experience, and I also joined the Undocumented Student Advisory Board Steering Committee to support Undocumented Students. In these spaces I work closely with the Dean of Students, and I aim to continue to work with them to ensure sexual and gender-based misconduct is not tolerated. Furthermore, I currently serve on USG’s Governing Board serving as the Director of Organization Support Services.
As a Latino, Bisexual, and First Gen student I understand how many underrepresented communities feel at UConn, and I would be beyond honored to be elected by you to serve as your CDO
