MESSAGE FROM THE CANDIDATES

Nicholas Kafka

My name is Nicholas Kafka, I am a junior transfer student from Tunxis Community College, studying Political Science. I am also Residential Senator of North Campus in the Undergraduate Student Government. Before my time at UConn I had the honor to be the Vice President of Tunxis Community College Student Government Association where I oversaw over 25 clubs and a $250,000 budget. I was honored to serve my fellow students and strive to be a valuable resource for all their needs. Our campaign focuses on making campus a better place for all students and be the voice of much needed change. I kindly ask for your vote to elect me and my close friend Smith Bernard, into office so we can enact essential reforms within the USG and provide effective advocacy for our community. Thank you and GO HUSKIES!!!

Smith Bernard

My name is Smith Bernard (my first name really is Smith) and I am running for Vice-President of the Undergraduate Student Government with my friend and colleague, Nick Kafka. I am a Junior transfer student from Naugatuck Valley Community College, studying Economics with a minor in Accounting and Political Science. I am also a Senator in the Undergraduate Student Government representing students in the ACES program. I have also served as a senator and as treasurer in the Naugatuck Valley Student Government, overseeing a $400,000 budget, organizing events, and advocating on behalf of the student body to administration and to political leaders. My experience at community college has provided me with leadership and high expectations for Connecticut's top public university. Our campaign believes that students should have a better academic experience, a better and personal relationship with the Undergraduate Student Government, and a University that makes decisions in the Student's interest.
