PeriodBox Overview
⇒ Period Box is a student-led, student-funded initiative organized by USG’s Sexual Health Subcommittee and sponsored by the student organization Period @ UConn. Period Box aims to provide sustainable and high-quality menstrual projects directly to students and relieve period poverty on campus.
⇒ This initiative was launched in 2020 when students were less frequently in public bathrooms due to COVID-19 protocols, and unable to get the 25¢ menstrual products in restrooms.
⇒ Students who sign up for a box will receive approximately a six month supply of products, including a variety of pads and tampons, heating pads, menstrual cups, and period underwear. All products available for Period Boxes are non-toxic, cruelty-free, and vegan.
⇒ The PeriodBox application is on a first come, first serve basis.
If you have any questions about PeriodBox, please contact our team at sexualhealthandedu@usg.uconn.edu.
