PeriodBox Overview
⇒ Period Box is a student-led, student-funded initiative organized by USG’s Sexual Health Subcommittee and sponsored by the student organization Period @ UConn. Period Box aims to provide sustainable and high-quality menstrual projects directly to students and relieve period poverty on campus.
⇒ This initiative was launched in 2020 when students were less frequently in public bathrooms due to COVID-19 protocols, and unable to get the 25¢ menstrual products in restrooms.
⇒ Students who sign-up for a box will receive approximately a six month supply of products, including period underwear, a heating pad, and an optional menstrual cup. Students have the option to choose between three different boxes to suit their needs. All products found in the Period Boxes are non-toxic, cruelty-free, and vegan.
⇒ On-campus students will have PeriodBox directly shipped to their dorm or apartment. Off-campus students will pick up their box on campus. Distribution will only happen once a semester.
⇒ The PeriodBox application is on a first come, first serve basis.
