Fellow Huskies, My name is Sadaf Zarei, and I’m an international student from Iran. Growing up, I never experienced a free and fair election, so coming here and witnessing every aspect of representative democracy has been both eye-opening and exhilarating. I previously served as a Senator for the College of Engineering, but this time, I want to focus my advocacy on international students—many of whom face increasing uncertainty as crackdowns on grants and visa security continue. International students don’t need a single spokesperson; they are a diverse community with unique perspectives. What they do need is someone committed to ensuring their concerns are heard and their struggles don’t go unnoticed. I pledge to be that voice in student government—to listen, to advocate, and to fight for policies that truly support international students.
