Syna Patel - Chief Diversity Officer

Hello! My name is Syna Patel, and I am officially declaring my candidacy for the Spring 2026 USG election because I genuinely care about the student experience at UConn. As someone who has studied on the Waterbury campus and who also studied abroad, I have seen firsthand how different and valuable each UConn experience can be. These perspectives have shown me that every student experiences UConn in different ways, and student government should reflect that. As students, we juggle academics, work, organizations, and personal responsibilities, and I believe USG should actively support that reality. I want USG to feel more approachable and connected to the students it represents. If elected, I will prioritize listening first and making sure students feel comfortable sharing their concerns and confident that their voices matter. I am especially passionate about advocating for inclusivity, transparency, and initiatives that make campus life more supportive and engaging for all students, across campuses and experiences. I bring a strong work ethic, open mindedness, and a collaborative mindset, and I would be honored to represent my peers and work toward positive change at UConn.
